# Issues with severity Low

Trend Metric Trend Metrics / Issues

Low severity is for issues with zero or near-zero Annual Interest. Low and Medium issues are small elegance improvements — the broken windows of a code base, per the Broken Window Theory https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory: left unfixed, developers stop caring for elegant code, costing extra maintenance long term. Severity is inferred from the issue annual interest and thresholds in Project Properties > Issue and Debt.
